Namaste and Welcome.
If you have found your way here, perhaps you are looking for answers. Maybe you are feeling a heaviness you cannot explain, or maybe you are just curious about how your mind works.
Whatever your reason, I am glad you are here.
I am Dr. Ramakrishna Reddy Pydala, a Consultant Psychiatrist, and this is the beginning of our journey together at Ashokamanas.
Why “Ashokamanas”?
In Sanskrit, the word Ashoka holds a beautiful and powerful meaning. It is derived from “A” (Without) and “Shoka” (Sorrow or Grief).
In nature, the Ashoka tree is known as the “Sorrow-Less Tree”—a symbol of healing, love, and protection from grief.
I chose this name because I believe that psychiatry is not just about treating “illness.” It is about removing the sorrow that clouds the mind, so that your natural inner light can shine again.
What You Will Find Here
Medicine can sometimes feel cold and complicated. My goal is to make it warm, simple, and accessible. On this blog, I will be sharing:
- Jargon-Free Explanations: Understanding conditions like Anxiety, Depression, and Insomnia in simple language (English, Telugu, and Hindi).
- Myth Busting: Breaking the stigma and fear surrounding mental health medication and therapy.
- Practical Tips: Real advice you can use today—from “Sleep Hygiene” to managing stress at work.
- Stories of Hope: Reminders that you are not alone in this battle.
My Promise to You
As a doctor, I have seen patients from Visakhapatnam to Guntur struggle in silence because they were afraid of being judged.
I want to promise you this: Your feelings are valid. Mental health is as real as physical health. Just as we care for a wound on the body, we must care for the wounds of the mind.
